It was disheartening to see lesser voter turn out in Bangalore during the state assembly election held on 12th May.

I do not know the perplexing reasons.

However have a few hard questions.

.Is it the real apathy of middle class?Have they ignored even ‘NOTA’ option ?

.Did people from retail, delivery segments, restaurants ,healthcare sector could get time off to vote?

.Is it due to immigrant population who preferred to cast their votes in home towns?

.Is it due to immigrants who could not relate much with regional ‘Karnataka’ politics?

.Does duplication in voters list affect data?In that case can Aadhar be utilised in any possible manner?

.Will Aadhar help to prevent ‘missing names ’ in the voters list?

.Are we prepared to introduce postal ballot and on line secured voting?

.Whereas voters list reveals comparable figures for males and females, why the dedicated lines for lady voters seem shorter? Is there a gender bias?

.More debatable question,do we need a public holiday in urban areas on the day of polling?

.Can we think of having 2 fixed days like May 1st and October 2nd for possible polling?

.Is our political system prepared to have poll data in public domain so as to find the solutions?

.Is it due to perceived weakness of ‘single vote’ of  people of lower economic status?
